Holy sonnets of the twentieth century
Published in Unknown Binding by Baker Books ; Crossway Books ()
Average review score:

A master exegete and a excellent poet!Carson is one of the best New Testament scholars around today. His commentary on John is outstanding. In addition to his teaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, writing commentaries and other helpful books, SOMEHOW he finds time for poetry. This book contains his sonnets, a difficult style of poetry to write and yet Carson pulls it off with apparent ease. Each sonnet is prefaced with scripture and is distinctly Christian in its character (unapologetically so). Even from a purely literary viewpoint, Carson's poems are excellent.

Illumination and Night Glare: The Unfinished Autobiography of Carson McCullers (Wisconsin Studies in Autobiography)
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Wisconsin Pr (October, 1999)
Average review score:

A treasure for McCullers' fans and literary enthusiastsThe first part of this book is McCullers' "unfinished" autobiography. For me, reading this was like having a one-on-one conversation with a writer that I have read and admired since high school. The second part, wartime correspondence between McCullers and her then ex-husband Reeves, provided a great deal of insight into the personalities of both. I found these letters to be very moving. Also included in the book are previously published notes on THE HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER along with a detailed chronology of McCullers' life and works. ILLUMINATION AND NIGHT GLARE is a treasure for literary enthusiasts--especially fans of McCullers.

Illustrator's Reference File: Compositional Elements for Artists, Renderers, and Students
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (18 February, 1993)
Average review score:

A MUST haveI'm an architectual student, and i must admit that this book has become invaluable to me. Its one of the best book of its type. I have several other similar books, but this one by far is the best presented and most complete. I'm not saying its flawless, some of the renderings are blurry, and some subjects should have been further explored. Yet its still my favorite and i'm sure it'll be yours. Atleast untill I find a better book.

Inescapable Journey: A Spiritual Adventure
Published in Hardcover by Heartsfire Books (October, 1995)
Average review score:

I Couldn't Put It Down....!I thought this was a fascinating autobiographical story of a very successful business man, who has a heart attack at a young age, and thus goes through an amazing spiritual transformation. He travels to many exotic places, and adopts the Buddhist life style and religion, which by the way, is a very wonderful, wise, and tranquil path of spirituality. It held my interest to the end, and I highly recommend it. Interesting pictures are also included, which brings it closer to the reader.

These poems are worth reading--and re-reading!Meredith Carson gets beneath the skin of diverse species and their relationships, including with ours. Subtle perceptions - but not obscure. My favorite poem is very human: "My Love is a Scientist."

Inspecting a House: A Guide for Buyers, Owners, and Renovators
Published in Paperback by Beaufort Books, Inc. (May, 1982)
Average review score:

An excellent guide for home owners and home inspectorsThis book is an invaluable guide for anyone who owns a home, or is planning to buy or renovate one. The different systems of the house are explored, from the heating system to the roof, with clear descriptions of the typical problems which occur in each of these areas and what to look for.
The pictures, which come from the "Illustrated Home" series of books are clear and certainly worth a thousand words each.
In addition to the technical explanations of the various systems of the house, there is a section devoted to the renovation process, dealing with architects, and information on contracts and budgeting.
